Today, a U.S. jury convicted Jason Eaton of three counts of attempted second-degree murder, in the case of the shooting three years ago in Vermont that targeted three RFS graduates: Hisham Awartani, Kinnan Abdalhamid, and Tahseen Ali Ahmad.
As their families said in a joint statement, the verdict cannot undo what happened or erase the trauma they carry. But it affirms something fundamental: accountability. Hisham was left paralyzed from the chest down and now lives with paraplegia, a reality his family has spoken of not as loss, but as the life he is living, fully and with courage. The families were clear that this was never a case of confusion; it was hatred, spoken by their attacker in his own words during the trial.
We hold Hisham, Kinnan and Tahseen in our hearts today, and in the resilience they have shown over the three years since, rebuilding their lives, their futures, and their bond. They are, and will always be, part of our RFS family.
