“Libraries are cathedrals of the mind; hospitals of the soul; theme parks of the imagination” Caitlin Moran (journalist, author)
International mindedness appreciates the uniqueness, listening to others, respecting the differences, opinions, and perspectives, understanding different cultures, learning multiple languages, and respecting each other.
RFS' Middle School Library is developing activities so our students can have a “Window on the World” through stories, read-aloud sessions, celebrating worldwide events, national & international language and literacy days, book club discussions, reading challenges.
Our library collection offers a variety of books to encourage our young people create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. The monthly displays and “Author of the Month” have selections of books to guide the students into reading and make them reflect on international mindedness.
Reading teaches them to have flexibility, tolerance, and respect toward all cultures and involvement in different cultural locations.
