Palestinian Model United Nations Mission

In Strategic Partnership with Bank of Palestine

- Ralph Bunche once said that “The United Nations exists not merely to preserve the peace but also to make change - even radical change - possible without violent upheaval. The United Nations has no vested interest in the status quo. It seeks a more secure world, a better world, a world of progress for all peoples. In the dynamic world society which is the objective of the United Nations, all peoples must have equality and equal rights.”

The Model United Nations (MUN) is a mechanism that allows future generations to comprehend the role of a leader and critical thinker. It enables the youth to have a more global perspective, enhance their conflict resolution abilities and develop their communication skills. MUN is a weapon of “mass destruction” that can be used to break down false and wrongful concepts, and preserve an essence of the greater good in return.

The Palestinian Model United Nations (PalMUN) is a student led and run program that started in 2006 at the Ramallah Friends School (RFS) in Ramallah, Palestine. A lot of thought goes into bringing PalMUN to life, as the Board and the Director are fully aware of the great impact it has on both the individuals and the society. PalMUN offers a unique experience that combines fun with learning. It emulates real life situations that the global community faces. Every conference, meeting and discussion in PalMUN has an incredible impact on students; they are able to debate, negotiate and construct resolutions on world threatening matters.

PalMUN allows students to experience the United Nation first hand. It expands their understanding of world relations and further involves them in the procedures of this international body. We sincerely hope that the PalMUN 2018 will exceed expectations and go through barriers, both palpable and out of sight.
